Quick Hello...

Hello to all you wonderful Finish-It-First folks!  I am here to quickly update that I haven't fallen off the planet, I'm just terribly ill.  You can head over to my regular blog, Creative Confessions, for details if you like.  I have received a number of updates and emails from folks about their projects and also a couple more ladies who would like to join us.

I managed to add 6 more rows to my crocheted blanket!  Hooray!
Don't dismay, I will update things here as soon as I have the energy, but it may take a few days.  Being this sick is definitely not something I would wish upon anyone!

Keep up the great work ladies!

How's Your Progress?

It's the beginning of a new Month!  How is everyone doing?  I have heard from a couple of you already and it seems that projects are getting scratched off the list!  Great to hear it!

Amanda's giant crochet blanket.  She's 6-foot, so it had to be extra long to make her cozy!

Kathleen (no blog) finished her Starbears Baby Quilt and is ready for her new grandbaby to snuggle up in it.  Amanda at My Left-Handed Musings was thrilled to hook the last few stitches of her newest creation, a gorgeous crochet blanket.  And I, although I haven't completed anything yet, have been working away at my crochet while I travelled across the country for the end of February to visit family.

Come and check in this week and send me some photos if you have any.  We always love show-and-tell!  I'll continue with my post about organization later in the week after we hear from a few of you.

PS: If you are a participant, please consider following this blog, putting the Finish-It-First photo on your own blog, and/or mentioning it to your other quilting, knitting, textile loving friends.  The more the merrier!

So Far?

I'm so impressed with all of you who have taken the plunge with me!  Thank you for joining us!  It's almost March (crazy to actually say it!), how are your projects coming along?  Don't forget to come and check in on March 1st so we can hear all about it!  If you would like to email me some pictures of your projects or your progress, I'll be happy to start a gallery!

One of the "Small Quilts" on my list - just have to bind and label and it's done!

So far we have 13 wonderful ladies who are busy working away as best they can on what they have chosen to complete.  Congratulations!

Don't forget, if you have your own blog, you can take the "Finish-It-First" image in the right column and post it there.  I left quick instructions on how to do this, but if you need more detailed steps, you can email me and I'd be happy to help you out.

My very un-organized room!  Help!
A word on organization:  How are things looking in your project bins/bags/shelves/etc?  In my next post I'm going to share some organization tips to keep your projects together, keep your sanity about what you have on the go, and make a list (Oh no!  Not the L word!)...  Not too worry, it might be fun to make this list!

Enjoy your day!
Heather

PS:  Don't forget to head over to Creative Confessions where I normally hang out; on March 2nd I'll be hosting another giveaway!

Get 'Er Done!!

Hello fellow creative enthusiasts!  I hope you'll join me on this great journey for 2012.  I thought up this project idea a couple of weeks ago, but it took a little bit to get organized and create the page for it.

Do you have one or two items in a closet or bin somewhere that you know you should be finishing before you start that other things you just bought?  Or how about that block-of-the-month that came faithfully every 30 days... Three years ago!!  Is there a pretty set of applique blocks or maybe a stitchery with a holiday theme that should be completed, well...  Before the holidays?

Join with me and make a dent in that UFO pile, even if it's just a small one.  You don't have to go crazy digging everything out of your room or crafty space making some list that goes on for ages and in the end becomes more of a deterrent than an encouragement.  Really, just think of 3 to 5 items and let me know here.  Then you'll have your blog added to the sidebar on the right with your list of items.

That's it!  Come and check in at the beginning of each month and let everyone know how you are doing on your items by leaving a comment on the monthly check-in post.  Then make a post about it on your own blog with some pics of your progress (if you have a blog that is).  If you don't have a blog, send me some photos and I'll have a little gallery here after check-in is completed.

I know there are other UFO clubs out there, and if you are already a part of one, that's super, you are welcome to join here too.  The point is to get working, not worrying about where you'll fit in!  I've already added myself to the list at the side with my first items that need to be completed.

Step 1: Leave a comment HERE with the first few projects that you would like to finish or think are the most likely you will finish.

Step 2: Come back next month and let us know how you are doing!
